Mosul, Iraq: In a horrific revelation, a 12-year-old girl confessed how she escaped from the clutches of Islamic State fighters by slipping sleeping pills in their tea, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The girl was held captive by ISIS fighters as a sex slave along with her aunt in Iraq’s Mosul. Unable to bear the everyday torment, the young victim managed to get hold of sleeping pills and mix it up with the tea served to her owners.
As the militants drank the tea and fell unconscious, both the victims fled the place and managed to find shelter in a Kurdish-held territory.
The minor victim’s story has been confirmed by Vian Dakhil, a Yazidi member of Iraqi parliament.
The victim has been united with her family. Girls as young as 12 are held as sex slaves by Islamic State fighters. Some of these girls are sold in exchange for goods as well as money and are also given to fighters as rewards.
The sexual abuse testimonies of several women come in the wake of the incident when Nadia Murad Basee, an Iraqi Yazidi, who escaped from the clutches of ISIS fighters, revealed the torture she had to go through when she was kidnapped.
Speaking about her ordeal at Egypt’s Cairo University last November, Nadia said militants “used to force captives to pray and then rape us. They did what a mind could not imagine.”
It is estimated that about 3,000 to 5,000 women and young girls, including minors, are enslaved by ISIS.
