Air India has recently agreed to give 50 per cent concession to all North Eastern states on cargo fare for shipping their deceased from Chennai to the region, Northeast India Welfare Association Chennai (NEIWAC) said.
According to UNI report, the agreement was made last Friday in Chennai by NEIWAC president Wapang and Sr. Manager, Commercial Cargo Air India DS Narayanan.
It was agreed that for the purpose of sending the mortal remains of North-east people to their respective homes in NE India, they should provide required documents which would be attached to the coffin.
“If all the required documents are produced prior three hours to the flight time and on payment by cash, 50 per cent discount will be given by Air India on these cargo flying from Chennai to the region,” NEIWAC said in a statement.
