Keeping in mind the increasing craze for Naga youth to join the world of fashion, search for the first ever ‘Nagas Next top model 2013’ began Saturday at OJ Modeling Grooming and Training Agency, Burma Camp Veterinary Road, Dimapur, with another audition scheduled to be held on July 6 next.
Altogether 17 aspiring models, six male and eleven female, were selected for the contest to be held on July 27 next at Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile in Dimapur.
Talking to Nagaland Post, the media partner for the event, Moati Longchar, a contestant in ‘Nagas Next Top Model’, and also the 2nd runners-up at Mr. Wokha ‘12 and Mr Photogenic at the same contest, said that he is looking forward for the contest adding that it would be another great opportunity for him to bring fame.
“Fashion is my passion, it’s an art form through which I can convey the message to the people through still picture”, said Jung Jamir, a female contestant who wants to portray to the world ‘how rich is Nagaland in culture’ while adding that she is proud to be a Naga.
Another female contestant, Sopou (Apu), was very confident that she will win the crown by showing her beauty and talent and encouraged the youth to show their talent to the world.
When asked of the reason(s) behind her participation in the contest, one of the selected finalists, Lomi Kiba, a former Miss Dimapur finalist, said that the platform could be an environment where she could show off her skills and talent.
A resident of Chumukedima, and studying science at Patkai Christian College, Vishal Gaur, from Uttar Pradesh he filled in the form to contest in the “Nagas Next Top Model 2013” to fulfill his ‘childhood passion.’
An aspiring mechanical engineer, who was born and brought up in Dimapur, wants to portray Nagaland as a place with beautiful and hospitable people with distinct culture.
It may be mentioned that the winner of the female category will be representing India at the ‘Supermodel International’ contest at Bangkok, Thailand in 2014.
The show will be the first production under the banner of “O.J Modeling Grooming & Training Agency” Dimapur with Opang Jamir as the director and assisted by Nagaland Post as media partner.
The show will be groomed and mentored by Opang Jamir, with Arenla Sangtam as choreographer, official designer Vicie Achumi, Maverick Boutique, Notun Basti, designer Leejen (colors of Nagaland) and upcoming designer from Mokokchung, M. Alila Meyur.
Contestants will display their collection during in each of the rounds starting from July 27 till the grand finale in November. Contestants will also be facing elimination rounds every month.
