Manipur girl ranks 24th in UPSC exam

Imphal/Shillong/Kohima/Itanagar: Manipuri girl Khumanthem Diana Devi is the highest rank holder among the 21 from the northeast who cracked the UPSC’s Civil Services Examination 2015. She secured the 24th rank among the 1,078 who cleared the exam.

Of the 1,078 selected, 499 are from the general category, 314 are from the OBC category, 176 from SC and 89 in the ST category.

Diana’s father, Khumanthem Chandramani Singh, an IPS officer, said, “My daughter’s success is one of the happiest moments in my life.” She is currently serving as a guest lecturer in physics at Miranda House, Delhi University, and returning home on Thursday.

Other who cracked the exam from Manipur include S Asker Ali (167), Kritidas Thokchom (540), Rajkumar Haridas (686), Kshetrimayum Shivakanta Singh (752), Ruveda Salam (764) and M Thangsuansang Zou (915).
Eight from Assam too cleared the exam. They include Padmanabh Baruah (194), Sagarika Nath (199), Bidisha (210), Purna Borah (466), Subhrajyoti Bora (557), Jotimoy Bailung (786), Neeharika Ingti (930) and Mamoni Doley (1,005).

25-year-old Kampu from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district secured the 1,034th rank while Lowang (27) of Khonsa in Tirap district secured the 1,039th rank. Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa congratulated two girls from Arunachal, Chajat Lowang and Duyu Kampu, for cracking the exam.

 Dukini Kyndiah was the only one from Meghalaya to have cleared the exam securing 1,043th position. Rumbemo T Kithan of Nagaland secured 698 rank. Mizoram’s Elvina Laslmuanpuii Levon secured the 1,018th rank while Sanjib Das from Jirania in Agartala also passed the exam.
